Father killed near Snohomish identified

Police say James Johnston fatally shot his father, Robert Johnston, 59, on Sunday. The son remained in jail Wednesday.

SNOHOMISH — A Snohomish man who police say was killed by his son Sunday has been recognized.

Shortly earlier than midday Sunday, a person known as 911 saying James Johnston, 30, had shot his father Robert Johnston with a .22-caliber rifle at a house within the 6500 block of 57th Avenue SE, in response to a police report.

Two individuals who had been inside Robert Johnston’s residence informed detectives a “warning shot” was fired on the father’s toes. When the daddy walked again towards the trailer, one other shot was fired, this time reportedly hitting him within the stomach.

He was pronounced useless as paramedics tried to move him from the scene, in response to a police report. He was 59.

James Johnston was arrested for investigation of second-degree homicide. In courtroom this week, a protection lawyer argued the proof didn’t help this cost.

The suspect remained within the Snohomish County Jail on Wednesday with bail set at $1 million.
