About 10 union members are participating within the strike, union spokesperson Clairandrée Cauchy mentioned Friday. The collective settlement expired a few 12 months in the past, and negotiations started within the fall, she mentioned.

Wages on the lodge common $16.98 an hour, in response to the union. That’s 12-per-cent lower than the $19.24 common that room attendants make at Laval’s Consolation Inn, the union says.

“We’re not asking for the moon, only a cheap wage to feed our household and pay our payments,” Annie Dupuis, president of the unit, mentioned in an announcement. “We’re bored with being laughed at.”

Room attendants on the lodge are represented by the steelworkers union, which is affiliated with the Fédération des Travailleurs du Québec.
